A 59-year-old man in Mexico City died from a rare strain of bird flu, H5N2, never before found in humans. He had chronic kidney failure and other underlying ailments. Hospital care was sought on April 24 and the man died the same day, the WHO press release has said. H5N2 is a subtype of the avian influenza virus primarily affecting birds.
