Pakistan faced a severe financial crisis and food stampedes, as well as a political crisis that threatened government overthrow. The country witnessed a high number of terrorist attacks, particularly targeting security personnel and apparatus. The Islamic State in Khorasan Province (ISKP) carried out two violent attacks, one at a political rally in Bajaur and another in Mastung city of Balochistan. Terrorist groups, including the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), have shifted their tactics to focus on military and police personnel rather than civilians. The number of fatal terror attacks and security personnel casualties reached the highest levels in years.
