Metaverse experience to sway real-world travel choices in 2023: Survey

A recent survey conducted by the travel research firm Phocuswright has revealed that a majority of the respondents believe that augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) will have an impact on their decisions when it comes to traveling in the year 2023. The survey was conducted on 1,500 travelers from the United States and revealed that nearly two-thirds of the respondents said that they would be likely to experience an “augmented reality travel experience” in the next four years. This could involve using a Metaverse, an online virtual world, to explore a destination before making a decision. The survey also found that younger respondents were more likely to embrace the idea of augmented reality travel, with more than half of the 18-34 year-olds saying that they would be likely to try out a Metaverse experience. The survey further indicated that a majority of the respondents want to explore a destination before booking their trip, meaning that the use of AR and VR could help them make informed decisions.
