Watch: How Smriti Mandhana and Renuka Thakur thumped Australia for India's thrilling Super Over victory in 2nd T20I

The Indian women's team produced a sublime performance in the second T20I of the series against Australia, as it ended the latter's unbeaten streak in the shortest format of the year with a thrilling Super Over win. After Australia set a 188-run target, the hosts, riding on contributions from Smriti Mandhana (79) and Richa Ghosh (26* off 13 balls), tied the game in Mumbai. With five runs needed in the final ball to win the match, Devika Vaidya smashed a four to force a Super Over.

Ghosh and Mandhana began the Super Over for India, with the former giving the side a perfect start as he smashed a maximum off Heather Graham. However, Ghosh was dismissed off the very next delivery. Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur arrived at the crease and took a single off the third delivery, taking India's score to 7.

Smriti Mandhana, then, took on Graham as she continued on her aggressive approach from the innings earlier in the game, smashing a four and a six off the next two deliveries. On the final delivery, Mandhana smashed a pull shot and ran three runs to take India's score to 20/1.

Renuka Thakur took the ball for Australia's run-chase but endured a poor start, as Australia skipper Alyssa Healy began with a four towards mid-off. The Indian bowler changed her pace and forced Healy to get under the delivery, restricting her to one run. Ashleigh Gardener, then, was dismissed on the third delivery as Radha Yadav took an impressive catch under pressure at the long-off boundary.

Renuka conceded a single off the fourth ball against Tahlia McGrath to ensure an Indian victory, and bowled two legal deliveries as Australia ended with 16/1 in six deliveries.
