Sensex Rises Over 100 Points To Extend Gains For Sixth Straight Day And Defy Global Gloom
Indian equity benchmarks rose on Friday to extend gains for the sixth straight session, defying a broader global risk assets' sell-off driven by fears of a sharp global economic slowdown from rising borrowing costs worldwide. The 30-share BSE Sensex index advanced 104.25 points, or 0.18 per cent, to end at 59,307.15, and the broader NSE Nifty-50 index nudged 12.35 points, or 0.07 per cent, higher to close at 17,576.30. Both the leading stock exchanges, the BSE and the NSE, will conduct a one-hour special muhurat trading session on Monday, marking the beginning of a 'New Samvat 2079' -- the Hindu calendar year that starts on Diwali Source - NDTV #sensex #stockmarket
